WORLD BANK GROUP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR VISIT MT. COFFEE
August 25, 2016

For the 3rd time on Monday, August 15, 2016, the President of the Republic of Liberia, H E Ellen Johnson Sirleaf paid a one-day visit to the Mt. Coffee Hydro Power Rehabilitation Project Site in Harrisburg. This visit comes after two previous visits made in 2014 and 2015, when she attended the Ground Breaking Ceremony and inspected early progress of the construction works, respectively. During her visit, the President expressed satisfaction over the amount of work that has been achieved to include the construction of the dams and installation of generators and turbines in the Power House.

Of particular interest to her was the recruitment and programming for early training of Liberians, a process undertaken by the Manitoba Hydro International (MHI). The trainees (over 15 engineers/supervisors) are currently undergoing training in Zambia at the Kafue Gorge Regional Training Institute in Namalundu, Zambia. These Trainees are soon expected to embark on a five year training program to be provided by the Operation, Maintenance & Training contractor, a process which will provide them the necessary expertise to eventually take over the operations and maintenance of the MT Coffee Hydro Power facility”.
